The “I Hate Peas” Pea Soup

There are just some foods that some people don’t like – peas are one of those foods for me!

Why is it that some foods we hate don’t like and others we love? – – – I have no clue!

Grilled Bottom Round Roast

There is nothing quite like steak. I know that I could never become a vegetarian mostly because of my love of red meat! Last week there was Bottom Round Roast on sale. Now this is a pretty tough cut of meat so it needs some marinating. But once you get a good marinate on a Bottom Roast they can be totally awesome, and pretty darn flavorful. Perfect for eating fresh off the grill with some Potatoes and then sliced thin as leftovers for salads or sandwiches or fajitas or whatever!!

After marinating the steak for 24 hours I knew it was going to be good.

Chocolate Covered Marshmallows – “Smore’s Pops”

We love S’mores around here! One of the great joys of the summer is relaxing around a campfire just hanging out with friends. While enjoying that fire – marshmallows toasted (or burnt) to perfection are just right! After enjoying that fire you come inside to head to bed and realize that you now smell like you’ve been camping all week.

Pear Ginger Cake (with Whipped Cream Frosting)

Birthdays are a reason for Celebrating.

My Grandmother recently celebrated a birthday and Rich and I decided to surprise her. She knew that my Wonderful Parents would be joining her but that My Love and I had “too many other things going on” to join her. There is a truth to that but little did she know that part of our busy weekend was us driving 2 hours to surprise her at dinner. My parents showed up earlier in the day, with this cake in tow, and then a few hours later when they went out to dinner… low & behold we were waiting there for them!

Celebrating her birthday was a great day and the shock on my Grandmother’s face was priceless!
